Free Lumber! [HOMEMAKER DAY 8]
With this challenge, lots of people are telling me about lumber around Seattle.
With this challenge, lots of people are telling me about lumber around Seattle.
Here's one text I received today, "A bunch free wood there...big pieces of plywood."
I love it! If you find any pallets, good cement blocks, or things I could use...let me know.
I want a hot tub and wood stove as well.
California [HOMEMAKER DAY 6 & 7]
Yesterday, Amreitha and Obi flew with me to California.
Yesterday, Amreitha and Obi flew with me to California.
I didn't get a chance to blog yesterday, but got to talk about the Blogrimage with a lot of people. It's cool how people all over the world follow these journeys.
My step-brother is a carpenter, so he's giving me some tips on how to build the house. In fact, he has some books that he thinks will help me in my process.
I'm still leaning towards the platform design, and using free pallets for the floors and frame.
Not much to update, but once I'm back in Seattle, it's going to quickly develop.
Online [HOMEMAKER DAY 5]
At 4am, I'm heading to California. Scavenging for supplies and building will be put on hold for the next 5 days.

During this time, however, I will look for supplies online, narrow down my plan, and pick the brain of my carpenter-stepbrother.
As far as my plan, I'm starting to lean towards a platform design.

Delegating [HOMEMAKER DAY 4]
Some people say my Blogrimage is a 30 day delegation challenge.
A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HELPING ME! Today at Kalos Church, some of the guys made fun of my Blogrimage because it looks I'm delegating away all the work. They said this more of a 30 day delegation challenge. Ha! From the tools to the plans, ideas and documenting, I agree that I'm receiving a lot of help! To be fair, however, all these people offered to help because they wanted to part of this legendary experience! What kind of human would I be if prevented them the glory of experiencing this epic moment in history.
Anyways, I'm thankful for all the help!
Today, I didn't really accomplish a lot. A few people shared concerns they have for building permits and killing trees, so I'm going to strategically avoid breaking laws and upsetting neighbors.
Different Kind of Frames [HOMEMAKER DAY 3]
Building a house wood frame by video frame.
Framing is part of building a house. Today, Taylor Moore (youtube sensation), to start a documentary about my 30 day challenge! You could say he is documenting this “frame by frame.”
I’m really excited about this. It’s looking like he’ll periodically join along the challenge and then create a video later on. I’m pumped about that.
Here are some of the designs I’m inspired by:
I don’t want anything super complicated, so I found some plans online for simple designs.
I struggle with Ikea [HOMEMAKER DAY 2]
Since I don't have a history of building, I need a lot of help. During my Elementary school years, I designed, cut and engineered some plywood to transform my bike into a helicopter. Gears made out of wood, a propeller made out of wood, and whole lot of ingenuity went into the making of my helicopter bike. For sure, I thought it would fly. It never flew, but my dreams of being handy did fly far into 2018 and into this Blogrimage.

Anyways, I need lots of help. I struggle with assembling Ikea products. I've asked a couple of people for help with planning, documenting, and resourcing tools. Yesterday, a young man whom I've mentored since he was a pre-teen just got engaged! He, and his now fiance, helped me start a church in Washington. At the engagement party, a lot of people offered to help with this housing project. By the end of the party, these guys pointed me in the direction of pallets, tools, and a game-plan for building a solid foundation. I'm really excited and relieved by their help!
The first half of my blogrimage posts probably won't have a lot of exciting updates because I need to figure out exactly what I'm doing. I'll keep you updated, and hopefully you all can help me make this project even better.
Tomorrow, I'll show some pictures of my inspiration!
